San Juan´s church (Ruitelán)

ruitelan
In Ruitelán, next to the old National Road VI, stands the San Juan´s church, believed to date from the 13th to the 17th centuries, showcasing a blend of Romanesque and Baroque architectural elements. It is a single-nave church with a square apse and a bell gable at the foot of the building.

The bell gable features a single body with a bell chamber supported by semicircular arches, topped with a triangular pediment. Additionally, in this village, on a hill overlooking the old National Road VI, lies the Capilla de San Froilán, which dates from the 17th to the 19th centuries and is associated with the legend of the saint of the same name.

This chapel is also a single-nave structure with a gabled roof and a wooden framework. The rear of the nave is partially underground due to the slope of the land, and inside, there is a cave covered with a vault next to the main altar. The chapel features a grand stone staircase that provides access to the building.
