Pilgrim Monument

The Triacastela Pilgrim Monument is an emblematic point of interest on the French Way to Santiago de Compostela. Located in the heart of the municipality, the monument pays tribute to all the pilgrims who, over the centuries, traveled along this historic route.

The sculpture, which represents a walker in the middle of the journey with his walking stick and his cloak, symbolizes the perseverance, effort and devotion of the thousands of pilgrims who followed the Camino de Santiago, highlighting the essence of this spiritual and cultural experience.
This monument is not only a symbol of the physical effort of the Camino, but also a reminder of the cultural and historical legacy that the pilgrims go through. Placed in 1965, it commemorates the tradition of taking limestone from the sites near Triacastela to the parish of Castañeda, between Melide and Arzúa, where lime was made for the construction of the Cathedral of Santiago.
