San Salvador´s church

Located opposite the Tower of the Fortress and the Courthouse (formerly the Hospital of Santo Antón Abade), the Church of San Salvador is a fine example of primitive Gothic architecture.

Its belfry, added in 1860, was constructed by Sarriano builder Francisco Castañar. The church features Romanesque elements, including pointed arches and doorways. The north porch displays an arched tympanum, with a relief thought to depict either Melchizedek or King David. The medieval ironwork on the north door and the intricate capitals are also notable.
