San Xoán de FonfrÃa´s church
This style is also seen in the main door, although the facade has been restored, and the stones of the door have been meticulously repositioned during the renovation.
The church has a rectangular nave with limestone and quartz walls. The roof is made of slate, with a dual-pitched structure. The sacristy, attached to one side of the nave, stands out within the ensemble. Another significant feature is the bell tower, which has been rehabilitated. It consists of a single wall with openings for the bells and is topped by a triangular cap. Its original appearance is so well preserved that it almost appears Romanesque.
San Xoán de FonfrÃa also had a pilgrim hospital, now destroyed. In the past, pilgrims were provided with fire, salt, water from the local fountain (hence the village's name), a bed, and two blankets to sleep.
