Ethnographic Complex
This village is renowned for its "pallozas", traditional pre-Roman dwellings with oval, circular, or elliptical structures, thick stone walls, and thatched roofs without chimneys. Inside, families and animals lived together to endure the harsh mountain climate.
The *pallozas* had two main spaces: the "estraviza" for livestock and farming tools, and the "ástrago," the family living area with a wood-fired kitchen, an oven, and a bedroom. Some also featured an intermediate wooden floor, the *Barra*, used to store crops and for sleeping.
The ethnographic complex includes a museum, the Hospedería de San Giraldo de Aurillac, and the Church of Santa María la Real. The *palloza* museum in O Cebreiro preserves period furniture and household tools, showcasing the agricultural and livestock-based lifestyle that prevailed until the mid-20th century.
